My first post...

Greetings from Camp Atterbury...still!

As I write this evening, I wonder where in this great world the rest of my teammates are sleeping tonight.  It was kind of an eery feeling to say goodbye to them all as they departed last evening, but it was a step in the right direction towards getting to work on our mission.  At this point, I really don't know when I'll be leaving but it could be up to an additional two weeks. It's not all bad though, as I've been given my own room and a rental car so I'm not completely tied down to base. You couldn't ask for much better weather here, we've had cool, crisp morning and sunny afternoons nearing 80 degrees.

I've been assigned the "pallet rider" position on our team, meaning I stay behind to await transport on an Air Force cargo plane with all of our team's additional cargo.  This is obviously my first time working this position, but it's been a great experience as I actually get to use some of the skills I learned this winter in my logistics course.  Apparently the hold up is at levels far beyond our local control with some of the war planners out in DC.  All cargo is shipped on a "priority status" and apparently our cargo doesn't take precedence over many other supplies entering the Afghan Theater.  ADT's from Texas and Oklahoma also mobilized with our Indiana team; however they'll head to their respective provinces after arrival at Bagram Air Base.

Until next time,
Patman
